/Well-being
We know that the last year has been incredibly difficult for our community for lots of reasons. Everyone will have had a different response to the unprecedented changes to society that have taken place so rapidly and, for many, these changes will have had a negative impact on their mental health. Now more than ever it is important that we take time to understand how we are feeling and take steps to improve our wellbeing as much as possible. With lots of people having to stay at home, we have put together a selection of resources for children and families to support mental health and wellbeing. We will be adding to this selection over time so that families have a comprehensive library of wellbeing support.

To all our amazing writers 🙂
We were so delighted with the wonderful entries (over 50) that we had in for the 500 word challenge in school. The stories were wonderful and transported us to islands, fantasy worlds, rainbows, fairy castles, under floorboards and worlds very similar to our own!!
We decided that the judging should take place by all teachers, TA's and staff in the school hence why the results have taken a little while to collate! Everyone had such positive feedback about the stories and I was delighted to hear that some had also been read by teachers to the bubbles currently in school which has been truly lovely.
The stories were marked out of 50 with the categories being the language used, how enjoyable it was to read, character description, plot and originality of ideas.
We decided on 2 winners - one from Key stage 1 and one from Key stage 2.
The Key Stage 1 winner is Polly Hooker with her story The Three Fairytale Pirates. Many congratulations Polly. Your story was original and fun to read, we also loved the cliffhangers during the story. Your language was great.
The Key Stage 2 winner is Eliza Hill with her story The Rainbow. Many congratulations Eliza. Your story was incredibly engaging and left us all on a huge cliffhanger at the end. We also liked the juxtaposition between your story having such a lovely title and then being incredibly dark!
Polly and Eliza your prizes are a book of your choice and a fountain pen. So please email the office and let them know which book you would like.
We had 2 highly commended stories which were The Floorboard People by Grace Posthill and Liam the Explorer by Paicie Regan. You both win a fountain pen which will be sent to you.
Once again many thanks for your wonderful entries and keeping us enthralled with your creative ideas, writing styles and super language.
Kindest regards to you all for a good summer. Keep reading and writing.
Take care and stay safe.
