Governors

Governors give their time, experience and expertise in order to help create and sustain a rich and exciting learning environment for our children. The role of governors has changed a lot in recent years, with greater responsibility now than ever. The government says school governors’ role is:

  • ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • holding school leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

With a school as large as ours this is a sizeable commitment, which is why this year we have reconstituted the governing board, increasing to 14 governors when at full capacity, and we’re looking to add to the range of skills and experience already on the board and ensuring that the school continues to thrive and develop.

If you would like to contact the governing board or want to know more about the work of the governors or are interested in joining the governing board, please get in touch with the school office initially or email: finance@sheringhamprimary.norfolk.sch
