Update: Maths Revision Club in preparation for KS2 SATs  (12th December 2018)

We are overwhelmed with the response to the Maths Revision Club and have decided to have two sessions in the mornings.

The sessions will start at 8am and 8.30am, by having two sessions our groups will remain small so everyone will benefit from this.

As things change we will post any free sessions we have available on our website www.sheringhamprimary.norfolk.sch.uk/ within the Year 6 classes news and within the Learning Champion section. Gail can be contacted through the website to book on available slots www.sheringhamprimary.norfolk.sch.uk/learning-champions-4/

For those who have already contacted Gail so far, she will be in contact this week to confirm which session your child is on.

Thank you

10th December 2018: Maths Revision Club in preparation for KS2 SATs

Dear Parents/Carers

For the last couple of years I have organised a Maths Revision Club for the Year 6 pupils. This has proved popular in the past with the Year 6s and has been beneficial in their preparation for their SATs in May.

Revision club will be starting on Tuesday 8th January and run every Tuesday to Friday each week until SATs week in May. The sessions are before school and start at 8.30am. A different area of maths will be covered each week and this will include some problem solving where our reasoning skills will be developed.

To make good use of this, and so all children benefit from the sessions, we aim to keep the groups small. Therefore, this works on a first come first served basis. Bookings can be made for specific days or weeks.

Please find below a table of topics we will be covering and when.

There are many other opportunities to help your Year 6s

Our Maths Club will continue to have an activity each week specific for Year 6 to solve within their topic.

There are Maths Challenges outside Mrs Tupper’s Room and in the Maths Room (downstairs) which have one calculation a day to solve this increases fluency. They can also be found on our website by following the links from ‘children’ ‘our clubs’ ‘other clubs’ ‘challenges’

Maths Club on a Monday after school will continue to have an activity for Year 6 to solve.

We will also be posting useful websites for revision within our newsletters and on the website.
