Key Stage 2
The children in Year 3 and Year 4 will continue with their work on 'Soundscapes'. Working in small groups the children will compose a piece of music which represents a specific landscape they have been given. The children will select a range of tuned and un-tuned instruments to create their music. As well as their chosen instruments they will need to think carefully about dynamics, structure, timbre and duration when composing their music. Once they have rehearsed, each group will perform their piece and their audience will have the opportunity to evaluate their work.
The children in Year 5 and Year 6 are working on 'Pitch Notation'. This term's work is based around the song 'Up On Melancholy Hill' by Gorillaz. The children will be learning how to read pitch notation performing on tuned instruments, including glockenspiels, xylophones and chime bars. They will also be learning a number of chords for the ukulele and singing.
