We learnt a poem called 'Swops' then used this as inspiration to write and perform our own poems. We worked independently to gather ideas then worked in our tables to create a collaborative poem. Here are some of our performances.

Congratulations to Elijah and Angelica who both won a body board at the Summer Fair on Friday. Angelica won hers in the archery competition and Elijah won his with his Nerf Gun skills! Also, a big congratulations to Alex Waite who won the cake competition. Unfortunately, we do not have a photo of the winning cake but we are told it was delicious! We hope everyone had a great time at the Summer Fair.
The Boneyard Rap
We learnt and performed 'The Boneyard Rap' by Wes McGee. We used movement, instruments and voice to make the poem more interesting. We also gave each other feedback on how to improve. Enjoy our performances!
Congratulations to Amy on winning the girls U10 trophy, Darcy on coming a close 2nd and Jack for coming joint 3rd. Great work!!
World Book Day 2017
We had a fantastic time celebrating the wonderful world of Roald Dahl on World Book Day. As a year group, we based our activities on Fantastic Mr Fox so we thought about other adjectives to describe him, made some of Farmer Bean's (child-friendly) cider and made wanted posters of Mr Fox using triangles to build the picture.
Chinese New Year Learning Cafe
We have been integrating elements of Chinese culture into our learning this week, in celebration of Chinese New Year. For our Learning Cafe, we learnt about the story of our Chinese New Year began, as well as how it is celebrated today. We all painted a paper plate using out knowledge of traditional colours, patterns and symbols as part of a whole school collaborative art piece, which will then be made in a large Chinese dragon. We also played Chinese music as we worked. It was great fun, thank you to all the parents who took part!
We're going on a monster hunt!
Today we were tasked with finding out what terrible creature had kidnapped Apollo's wife. We looked for evidence in the front garden and made notes on what the evidence suggested. We also listened to recordings of the beast then used all the evidence to draw pictures of what we thought the creature might look like.
Our Healthy Pizzas
We decided to make healthy pizzas as part of our Healthy Eating topic. We all walked into town to buy the ingredients from the local butchers and greengrocers and even found out where each ingredient had come from so we could calculate the food miles. We made the dough ourselves by hand then prepared and added our toppings. We finished by eating our results and evaluating our work.
When planning the pizzas, we talked about which food groups we should be including most/least of in our diets and what toppings would be both tasty and nutritious.
