Tuesday's after school in the English Room (downstairs) for Years 2 - 6
What do you enjoy the most about stories?
At Book Club we will find out what makes a great story and use that to find new books and create out own.
What genres do you like the most?
How do you enjoy reading?
Every week we will have different activities exploring different genres and themes within stories. Discussing what makes a story great in books (or other media) and using that knowledge to review them. Using imagination to create and tell stories in different ways such as puppets and poetry or expressing ideas through writing your own story. Reading time will also be available at the end of the club for reading a new book or finishing up activities.
Come and explore worlds with Book Club!
Autumn Term 2018
Book club allows the children in KS 1 and 2 the chance to visit the library and explore the wide range of books that we have on display at Sheringham Primary School. The children enjoy coming and sharing books. We let the children lead the learning and focus on books they are interested in reading and showing to the rest of the group.
The focus has been on Narrative texts and some of the classics including Roald Dahl and CS Lewis. Many of the children have shared their books that they are reading at home. We also write and illustrate our own stories and act out some that we have written.
We are all looking forward to sharing some Christmas stories soon and then in the new year we look forward to World Book Day. We hope to write to some authors and review some of their books.
